Graduation Speech -- Graduation Speech, Commencement Address
I once read that life is well represented as a pearl deep within an oyster. The pearl symbolizes each person's potential, or the things that are going well for them in life. Just as a mere grain of sand that enters an oyster can grow into something of great worth, there is a fragment of excellency within every one of you that over time can be shape you into an individual who will make a difference in the world. There will be trials and hardships to overcome along the road to making a difference, but consider what Hellen Keller once wrote, "The marvelous richness of human experience would lose something of rewarding joy if there were not limitations to overcome. The hilltop hour would not be half so wonderful if there were no dark valleys to traverse." It is true that undergoing hard work in order to achieve one's dreams makes the arrival at success even more gratifying. Our lives are books to which each of us is our own author.
